Trustees

Our Board of Trustees helps to set and review our direction and make sure we’re delivering our objectives. They offer advice and guidance to help ABC Book Club support as many children as possible.

One thing they all have in common is a passion for helping children read more.

In this fast moving world it's to easy to push books aside but I believe they are an essential part in a child's development and academic success"

David Spragg

Managing Director, T&C Printers - Chair of Trustees

Being Managing Director of T&C Printers Bromley whose customers include many high-street names both in the UK and overseas, David champions the printed word and how physical books can stimulate a child’s imagination and expand their grammar and communication skills. David is a keen skier and motorcyclist.

I’m so thrilled to be a part of ABC to ensure that all children have the opportunity to engage in the magical world of books"

Tess currently works in the NHS as an Advocate and has previous experience in the charity sector. An avid reader all her life, she is also a champion of equality and this extends to the equality of access to books and reading spaces for all children.

It's my mission to share book love and to get more people reading. ABC supports all of that through its work and I'm proud to be a part of it"

Deborah Maclaren

Deborah is a book reviewer, passionate literacy advocate, regular speaker and presenter about the power of books and the importance of reading for pleasure. I love working with a cause so close to my heart. Reading is so important and every child should have access to books in their life."

Alex Falase-Koya

Best selling author of children's books

Alex has been reading and writing since he was a teenager. His debut novel ‘Marv and the Mega Robot’ was inspired after Alex struggled to find superheroes in fiction who looked like him. By creating Marv, a superhero whose strengths are kindness and imagination, Alex hopes to have created a character to whom all children can relate. He is also the co-writer of Marcus Rashford’s first fictional book, The The Breakfast Club Adventures: The Beast Beyond the Fence.

It puts a smile on my face seeing my vehicles travelling around the capital with the ABC branding on them!"

James De-Machen

Managing Director - James Removals Ltd

James has been involved in the home moving industry all his life and is very proud not only to help with the relocation of children’s books but to support and help steer the charity. With James Removals moving over 2000 homes per year, working with ABC seemed an obvious partnership to make. Moving home is the perfect time to donate unwanted children’s books and James Removals is proud to be able to support the charity in this way.
