A space themed library in Kidbrooke

Although this school would tick the 'yes' box if asked whether they had a library, the room was unloved and uninspiring. The bookcases were too tall, the books were in poor condition and there was no-where for the children to sit and read to enjoy their books.

When the school's English lead asked ABC for help we knew it wouldn't be difficult to make this into a library the children would love. The pupils chose a 'Space' theme, and provided the ABC team with a brilliant mood-board that sparked lots of ideas!

The result is a room with a rocket ship inspired reading nook full of cushions, rugs and blankets. Plus bookcases full of pre-loved books, a magazine rack, toys and props to bring the books to life.

The school had fundraised hard to raise the money to afford the library, and not a penny was wasted in the creation of the room. When the children saw their new library for the first time their big smiles told us more than words could say.
